Gary Blankenship Bio
My name is Gary Blankenship. I am an elder at this church. I married my high school sweetheart Gem, 50 years ago at the seasoned age of 19. We’ve raised two adopted children, and then raised our granddaughter who is now out of the house and married as well. I retired from the Albuquerque Police Department in 1988, and then worked as a General Contractor for 32 years before my retirement from that career. Though I was born and raised in Albuquerque, my wife and I made the move to Cedar Crest in 1980 where we have raised our family and joined the east mountain community.
I was raised in a church, but my testimony is that I actually came to know Jesus Christ in a real and personal way in 1976, and there began the spiritual journey in which I still travel. I’ve been involved in church leadership, and Bible teaching for over 45 years, as has my wife who currently supports me in ministry and frequently comes alongside other women in the church in a support and sometimes mentoring role.
My spiritual journey is combined includes 69 years of life experience that has taught me how little I know, and how far I have yet to travel until my journey’s end. This current episode of my journey is happening at Cedar Springs Church, where I continue my ministry of teaching God’s word, and just about everything else a church requires of its leadership team. Why don’t you come and join me and my wife in this journey; we will do our best to be interesting traveling companions.
